Remember to turn your clocks back tonight! This is your reminder to turn your clocks back one hour tonight when you go to bed (or at 2am if you’re still up.) While you’re at it, also remember it’s time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors. Enjoy the extra sleep!

The BNI CA Central Valley is making an impact to local schools Various BNI Chapters in the BNICV have been collecting school supplies all month from their members. These boxes are filling up this week with enough donated school supplies for every student in the adopted classrooms to start the school year with everything they will need for FREE. Next week they chapters will be presenting to the classrooms the chapters have adopted the donated supplies. Way to go John Lisle & Eva Lisle and your BNI chapter members for supporting the BNI Foundation: Business Voices' "Fill My Ride" campaign in your BNI region.

TEACHER WISH LIST: We have been asked, What do the teachers need? Here is a list provided by Jenny Stay a/k/a “The First Lady of BNI Miami”. She is also a local teacher and created this list for us on what most teachers would love to receive as donations. Jenny Stay also thanked us for "Fill me Ride" to support local teachers, most of whom make less than $50,000 per/year, and who are forced to spend $500+ out of pocket for these supplies to support their students.

Jeff Stay is establishing numerous ways that our BNI MIAMI-DADE chapters and members can give, including the purchase of supplies, gift cards from Office Depot for supplies, "flash mob hours" where a member can meet teachers at an Office Depot location, and drop boxes at Cafe Avanti, Clarin Eye Care, and coming soon - Tarpon Bend, and Hyatt Regency Downtown. Jeff and the BNI members in Miami will celebrate next week Tuesday at BNI Network Nights for the teachers of Mater Beach Academy, an "A" school on Miami Beach! Several of the BNI Miami-Dade chapters, members, friends and Alumni are going to be partnering with Jeff to achieve their goals which include school supplies for 75 teachers. #BNIBUZZ "Fill My Ride" is a U.S. initiative of the BNI FOUNDATION and the Business Voices movement targeting TEACHERS AND their needs for back-to-school supplies from a targeted "teacher wish list" to reduce the financial burden of purchasing same from their personal funds. #businessvoices #fillmyride

Ten Tips to make your Fill My Ride event simple and effective: 1) Let chapters know they can use their chapter funds to shop online at OfficeDepot.com and select the store we will be stationed at as their Pick-up Location. 2) Treat it like a FlashMob . . . people LOVE that! 3) Have some school-age specific suggestions printed up on a small shopping list (1/3 sheet of paper) to hand customers as they enter the store with our logo and marketing info on it. 4) Park the SUV right in front with a poster or the vinyl clings and flyers to give people who get curious (we have the artwork for the clings on the Facebook page and I can send it to you, too) I have a printer who can turn these around for $12 each and get them out BEFORE I arrive! 5) Shopping Spree for teachers. Let the checkers know to have any teachers come out to the SUV to get one of us to cover $50 of their school supplies when they are ready to check out (might want to have several people who are willing to take turns doing this, if you are at a location with a lot of teachers) 6) Ask the checkers to put a couple of your flyers at each check stand. And ask every customer if they will be donating anything today. Have them ring a bell when a customer is buying a donation. 7) Ask all members and directors who come out to wear their badges to show solidarity with BNI. Be sure you have your BNI business cards, you will be asked for your card, I promise you! 8) Be ready to accept some cash donations, people will want to participate, but will not know what to buy, or will be exiting the store when they meet you. Let people who say they cannot come out know that they can purchase Office Depot gift cards and get them to you later. 9) MAKE NOISE AND TAKE PHOTOS. Have fun, cheer, high-five and shout out loud when someone makes a donation to your ride. 10) Have your chapters take donations in a box at each chapter meeting for one month prior to the event. Then ask the chapters to bring their box to you at your event to Fill your ride.
